How come the Discover 100 5G is so heavy?

The Bajaj Discover 100 5G tipped the scales at around 115 kg making it quite a bit heavier than the majority of its competition in the 100cc segment. The extra weight became something that riders and enthusiasts debated. Others said that the extra heft gave the motor more stability and a more premium feel at high speeds. Some people complained that it impaired the bike's nimbleness around city traffic and in small spaces. In addition, discussions were made about how the addition affected fuel efficiency and general performance. Bajaj justified the weight, saying the bike needed it to be durable and have a good ride. Did this extra weight do anything for the model, or prove to be a flaw in its retirement?

In fact, the extra weight was good for stability. It made the bike feel like a bigger bike on highways.

It was so heavy in traffic I hated it. I’d get tired just from having to navigate through jams.

It gave it a solid feel, the weight was fine. A few extra kgs is too much for people to complain.

When it ran out of fuel, it was a pain to push around. Definitely too heavy for a 100cc bike.

I think the weight was distributed wrong. It made it feel clumsy at low speeds.

I liked the planted feel of roads. It wasn’t the most agile, but it was safe, sturdy.

Its downfall was the weight. 100cc engines aren't designed to haul that much steel around in the most efficient manner.

It was a trade-off. Agility comes at the cost of better stability and ride quality. I was okay with it.
