Honda Amaze vs Skoda Kylaq in India: what matters for a 10-year ownership plan beyond the Rs 7.6 lakh starting price?
The Honda Amaze and Skoda Kylaq both have listed starting prices near Rs 7.6 lakh before registration, insurance and dealer charges, but they suit different priorities. For an Indian buyer planning a seven-to-ten-year hold, the practical choice includes city comfort, highway or hill use, service support and long-term costs.
Current official India comparison
| Decision area | Honda Amaze | Skoda Kylaq |
|---|---|---|
| Listed starting price | Rs 7,65,400 | Rs 7,59,000 |
| Engine and transmission | 1,199 cc petrol; manual or CVT | 1.0 TSI petrol; manual or torque-converter automatic |
| Practicality | 416-litre boot and sedan layout | Compact-SUV layout; compare rear-seat and luggage needs in person |
| Safety and assistance | Honda lists a five-star safety result and ADAS | Compare the exact variant standard safety equipment before booking |
| Ownership cover highlighted by brand | Confirm current warranty and service package for the quoted variant | Four years/100,000 km warranty, four labour-free services in two years and four years roadside assistance |
These are current manufacturer-listed details, not final on-road quotes. A fair decision should add insurance, accessories, extended cover, local service reach, fuel use, tyre costs and exact variant equipment.
What would decide it for you?
Would the Amaze sedan packaging, CVT and boot suit urban use better, or would the Kylaq turbo-petrol, ownership cover and compact-SUV format matter more for highways and occasional mountain trips? For a long hold, how would you rank reliability, service access, safety equipment, rear-seat comfort, luggage space, running cost and resale, and what is your realistic on-road budget?
