Has the Mahindra Jeeto been a game changer for last mile delivery as promised?
Launched by Mahindra as a revolutionary vehicle for last mile delivery operations, the Jeeto was touted as a game changer for how small businesses will manage their logistics. Compact size, fuel efficiency and affordability were factors touted in which the mini truck would be ideal in crowded urban areas and reducing cost of operation for enterprises. It’s been several years since its introduction, but there’s still debate as to whether the Jeeto has in fact fulfilled this promise. Its success is evidenced by the widespread adoption by small businesses and e commerce delivery services, supporters say. But critics say persistent problems with reliability and after sales service have undermined its potential impact. It is often discussed how the Jeeto has affected the mini truck market, if it has really made last mile delivery more efficient and if it has addressed the changing needs of businesses in the wake of rising e commerce and changing urban landscapes.

The Jeeto didn’t revolutionize last mile delivery, but it did democratize it. And it made owning a delivery vehicle accessible to a whole lot more small business owners. Even if it’s not as flashy as being a ‘game changer’, it’s significant.

The Jeeto had promise, but Mahindra dropped the ball on after sales support. The backup service is only as good as a vehicle is. Had they hit that aspect, we might be having a different conversation about its impact on last mile delivery.

It's been a solid player, I think it might be a little bit of a stretch to call it a game changer. It's opened up possibilities we didn't have before for small businesses like mine. Many of us have been able to expand our operations based on the affordability factor alone.

Game-changer? More like game-same-er. Yes, it’s small, which is a good thing, but so are its rivals. Reliability is the real problem. If the delivery vehicle is always at the shop, what good is it? Mahindra promised more than they delivered.

I’ve been in the last mile delivery game for years and I’d say the Jeeto has made a difference. It’s a nice size for tight alleys and crowded markets. It’s not without problems, but it’s led us to rethink how we approach urban delivery.
