Has Bullet Electra lost the shine as new and intricately designed Royal Enfield models have started surfacing?
The last time around, the Royal Enfield Bullet Electra has long been a favorite for its classic looks, unique thump and raw riding experience, especially the older models. However, while the Electra remains a product line from Royal Enfield, newer products in the Royal Enfield line up such as the Meteor, Classic 350 (2021 onwards) and the Hunter 350 have opened the question on relevance of the Electra in current motorcycle scenario. The newer models feature improved refinement, better performance and modern features, but with some classic RE elements. The Electra's charm, some say, is simplicity and a link to RE's heritage, or perhaps it's just old and out of date compared to the latest offerings. Themes like nostalgia versus progress, and whether the essence of Royal Enfield is helped more in the Electra or in newer models, all are part of this debate.
The Electra is timeless. New models come and go, but to ride a piece of motorcycling history is just something else.
It's plain and simple outdated. Instead of losing the classic appearance, the new REs ride much better.
It's still there, but it's more niche. Purists will be glad to know it's the original RE experience, warts and all.
I ditched my Electra for a Meteor and I'll never do it again. It’s just on another level in terms of refinement.
The Electra still has its purpose. It’s like vinyl records in the era of streaming, less convenient, more soulful.
The new models are great, but they’re mass produced. It still feels handmade, the Electra.
The Electra’s charm has actually grown. Given the state of high tech bikes, its simplicity is refreshing.
It's lost its uniqueness. The Electra doesn't stand out anymore when every other bike on the road is an RE.
