FASTag Annual Pass in FY 2026–27: replacement-tag porting versus transfer to another car
India's Annual Toll Pass is priced at ₹3,075 for FY 2026–27 and covers up to 200 eligible crossings or 12 months, whichever comes first. Current NHAI terms say it is non-transferable, non-refundable after activation and permanently linked to the original vehicle registration number. That makes replacing a damaged FASTag on the same car a different question from moving the pass to another car.
Keep the four situations separate
| Situation | Decision check |
|---|---|
| Replacement tag, same registered car | Ask the issuer and RajmargYatra whether the old tag must close first and what confirms the pass moved to the new tag |
| Different issuer, same car | Confirm the exact sequence, eligibility and pass status before travel; a community-reported porting flow is not a guarantee for every issuer |
| Selling one car and buying another | Do not assume unused crossings or value follow the owner; current terms prohibit reassignment to another vehicle registration number |
| Buying shortly before a vehicle change | Compare the likely crossings before sale with the cost of waiting, because an activated pass is listed as non-cancellable |
Which proof would you require before relying on a same-car replacement: old-tag closure, new-tag mapping, visible pass balance, an effective date or written support acknowledgement? And if a vehicle sale is close, would you delay activation?
