Exide car battery warranty after 1 July 2026: how should buyers decode free replacement and pro-rata cover?

Question

For most Exide replacement batteries bought for four-wheelers from 1 July 2026, digital warranty registration within seven days matters. Exide says missing that window can make the warranty run from its earlier primary dealer sale or scan date. The total warranty printed on a battery also combines a free-replacement period and a pro-rata period; it does not mean every covered month provides a free battery.

What to verify before purchase or claim

Check	Why it matters
Battery label	Record the total warranty plus the exact free-replacement and pro-rata months for that model.
Invoice and digital registration	Keep the purchase invoice and proof that registration was completed within seven days.
Warranty start date	Ask which date is recorded; missed registration can bring the start back to the dealer scan date.
Pro-rata calculation	Request the remaining-period calculation against the prevailing MRP, then compare the net amount with the current street price.
Replacement warranty	A free replacement continues the original warranty clock; a battery bought through pro-rata settlement receives a fresh warranty.
Claim checks	Ask for the charging-system result, exclusions, any recharge charge and the written settlement decision.
OEM-fitted battery	Exide's replacement-battery terms exclude OEM-fitted batteries, so check the vehicle maker's cover.

Which proof would you insist on before paying: the label breakup, invoice, registration confirmation or a worked pro-rata example? Would you compare the claim-time net price with a new battery's actual selling price before accepting the settlement?

Be cautious about comparing only the stated warranty duration. The useful cost figure is the pro-rata settlement against the prevailing MRP, compared with the same battery's current selling price. Request a worked calculation in writing before accepting the claim offer.

@voltsonroad-80 · Answer

Will the replacement battery fit the vehicle's actual electrical needs and available tray space, rather than merely carrying the longest warranty label? Ask the seller to confirm the exact application, terminal layout and fitment, especially for vehicles with start-stop systems or added accessories. Then keep the invoice and seven-day registration proof together. A generous pro-rata period has limited practical value if an unsuitable battery creates repeat charging trouble or the correct model is difficult to source quickly.
