Does the TUV300's design make sense or is it trying too hard to be unique?

Since the launch of Mahindra TUV300, its design has been a bone of contention. Its boxy, upright stance and somewhat quirky styling cues have not gone down well with everyone, and divide car enthusiasts and potential buyers. Some like its effort to be different in a market full of competitors, others think it is just awkward and dated. The TUV300 is suggestive of a design philosophy that favours rugged, utilitarian over stylish design, which is also in synch with the tough, go any where approach that is the vehicle’s positioning. But this has resulted in debate as to whether the design sacrifices aerodynamics, interior space efficiency, and overall 'sexiness'. The unique design is loved by some, who find it to be character, while others think it is an acquired taste that may have constrained the market appeal. The conversation often goes on to talk about how the design impacts practical things like visibility, ingress/egress, and even resale value.

I believe it's refreshingly different. The TUV300's boxy design stands out in sea of curvy crossovers. It has that old school SUV charm that you don't find anymore.
