Does the Tata Punch manage to stick to the script it has written for itself?
While promoting the Punch as the solidly built safe compact SUV, Tata Motors has managed to keep the attention of the buyers. Nevertheless, the so–called build quality and durability of the vehicle seems to have been reported differently by owners. Its high safety ratings, sturdy feel, and some with panel gaps, interior materials, long term durability are praised by some and others have complained about it. As a result, there have been debates about whether Indian cars are as reliable as international cars and whether the Punch represents a leap ahead or there is still a lot of work to be done. It also chimes about the fine line between affordability and premium feel while dealing with budget SUV segment.
Since coming out of a Maruti, the Punch feels like a tank! It's not a luxury car, but for a budget SUV I have to say I am impressed at how well built it feels.
I've not had great experience. Paint quality issues and some interior trim piece came loose. Tata is better, sure, but they’re not quite there yet.
People's expectation is over, for the price. Considering Indian roads and safety, it is built well. What's important to me? That's what.
On the exterior I’d say is good quality, but interior has some work to do. Some rivals feel a bit more plasticky.
No big problems after 20,000 km so far, but I do see some inconsistent panel gaps. I wouldn’t exactly call it premium feeling, but it is sturdy overall.
