Does the private buyer mind that the Maruti Tour S STD has a taxi image?
Maruti Tour S STD is basically meant for commercial use though private buyers also consider it due to its affordability as a sedan. However, association with taxis and fleet vehicles has caused a perception issue. However, this image problem threatens its desirability to private consumers who, at least on the surface, would find its practicality and cheapness attractive. The most common debate is whether the vehicle's reputation as a 'taxi car' makes up for its good points for personal use or not and whether it is correct considering the difference between the Tour S STD and other Dzire models. Though some feel that the taxi image doesn't matter if the car does what you need, others feel that it affects the social status associated with car ownership in India.
Absolutely! When you are out with friends or family, nobody wants to drive a car that yells 'taxi'.
It doesn’t really matter, I don’t think. Who cares what others think when you’re looking for an affordable, reliable car?
It's all about perspective. For me, it’s a badge of reliability. It can do taxi duty, so it can do anything I throw at it.
It's a real problem with the taxi image. Therefore, Maruti should think of rebranding or making the private version more clear cut.
If I was a young buyer, I would avoid it. The first impression matters and I don’t want people to think I’m an Uber driver every time I pick someone up.
In fact, it’s a smart choice for a second car. And who cares about image for a vehicle you use for grocery runs and daily commutes?
The taxi image is overblown. On the road, most people can't tell a Tour S STD from a regular Dzire.
