Does the MPV styling of the Kia Venga still fit in a market crowded with crossovers?

The Kia Venga is one of the last remaining members of a dying breed of small MPVs as the crossovers and SUVs take over the market. It has boxy, van like styling which prioritised interior space and practicality, once a highly desirable trait from a family car. But consumers have been moving towards the higher ride height and more rugged appearance of crossovers. Like many crossovers, the Venga offers similar practical benefits of high seating position and flexible interior, without the fashionable SUV inspired design. It means that there is still a place for traditional MPV designs such as the Venga. Are consumers missing out on some practical, space efficient options in favor of style over substance? Or has the crossover trend usurped the outdated MPV designs and really offered a better balance of style and practicality?

The rise of retro inspired boxy designs has made the Venga's boxy shape actually quite trendy. Maybe it could be accidentally cool!

MPVs definitely still have a place, but not in the same form as we've seen so far. Kia could be onto a winner if it could modernise the Venga’s design, while keeping its practical benefits.

I believe the market has moved on. The Venga feels like a relic of the 2000s, along with other MPVs. They're just more versatile and they appeal to a wider range of buyers.

As a parent, I love that the Venga is about space and practicality. Yes, crossovers might look cooler, but can you fit a stroller in some of them?

In a sea of lookalike crossovers, the Venga's design is actually quite refreshing. The fact is, it stands out, and that’s not a bad thing in today’s market.

I still think there’s a place for MPVs, they just need to evolve. Perhaps a slightly more rugged looking Venga could close the gap between MPV practicality and crossover style.

MPVs like the Venga are dinosaurs, nah. With much better styling, crossovers also provide the same practicality. That’s why they’re so popular.

Absolutely! Not everyone wants to fake going off road. What it is, is an honest practical family car. That’s something we need more of in the market.
