Does the Mahindra Jeeto’s CNG variant make sense for urban delivery businesses?

The Mahindra Jeeto CNG has been picking up for it being a cost effective and eco friendly alternative for urban delivery businesses. As fuel costs continue to rise, and environmental concerns grow, many small business owners are looking to switch to CNG vehicles. Still, these CNG vehicles are under debates on whether they are practical, in terms of refueling infrastructure, maintenance cost and their overall performance when compared to diesel or petrol variants. However, fuel efficiency and lower running costs claimed by the Jeeto CNG are appealing, but there are doubts about its power output when fully loaded, as well as the number of CNG stations in different cities. Finally, the initial higher cost of the CNG variant when compared with its diesel counterpart leads one to question the long term cost benefit analysis for the small business owner.

Last year, I switched to the Jeeto CNG for my small delivery business and it has been a game changer. No joke, I’m spending much less on CNG than I ever did on diesel. Also, I feel good about polluting less.

On paper, CNG sounds great, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Long routes have been nightmares finding CNG stations. And sometimes I spend more time and money trying to refuel than I save in fuel costs. Unless you're only doing short city runs, it's just not practical.

This is a real power issue, folks. My Jeeto CNG struggles when fully loaded on inclines. It works fine for flat city roads, but if your routes include any hills or highways you should consider diesel.

It really depends I think on your use case. It's perfect for my vegetable delivery business within the city. It has low running costs, enough power for my needs and I never have problems finding CNG stations. I can imagine it not working for everyone, but I can see how it might.

It’s a big hurdle in terms of cost. There’s no doubt saving in the long run, but it’s a big upfront investment and small businesses have a hard time swallowing it. If they really want to push CNG variant, Mahindra should offer better financing options.
