Does the chrome finish of the Mr Clean edition stand the test of time?
With its main selling point being the distinctive chrome finish on the Continental GT 650 Mr Clean edition gives it a vintage, premium look. Chrome finishes can be pretty tough to keep up with, particularly when you're talking about a vehicle that is exposed to the elements. Over time, owners often share with one another about how the chrome stands up to normal wear, exposure to the elements and cleaning routines. Some will have issues with spotting, pitting, or discoloration, while others can attest their bikes still look showroom fresh after countless years of use. And the substantive debate goes on about what's the best way to hold this chrome finish, what are the best products, what are the best methods? We also discuss how the chrome affects the resale value of the bike over time versus standard painted models.
After two years mine still looks great but I'm obsessive about cleaning and polishing.
Within months the chrome on the exhaust pipes started to blue. Disappointing for the price.
If you take care of it, it holds up fine. It’s definitely more work than a regular paint job.
I've seen some bad examples, but I don't think it's because of the bike, I think that's down to owner neglect.
The tank and side panels stay nice but the mirrors can get pitted easily.
It's a mixed bag. Some areas are great, others not so great. Over time you will expect some imperfections.
Actually I like it with some age. Gives it character!
