Do the KTM 890 Adventure's high-tech electronics improve or hinder the ride?
by geeta kumariover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, and, on the R model, rally mode with adjustable throttle response and traction control intervention are all part of the sophisticated electronics package on the KTM 890 Adventure. These features promise to improve safety and performance, but some riders contend that they are adding too much complexity into the riding experience. Do the different modes and configurations actually make sense in practice, or do they obscure the core of riding itself? Do the electronics cause the riders to push their limits with confidence in the electronics, or do they give a false sense of security?

The electronics are good for newer riders, but experienced folks may find them intrusive. The good news is you can turn most of it off if you prefer.

I think KTM went a bit too far with the electronics. I’m happy with good suspension and brakes. They don’t need all the fancy stuff.

It took me a while to learn everything, but now I love having all of them. All the different modes are like having multiple bikes in one.

Off-road riding is revolutionized by the Rally mode on the R. It’s great to be able to adjust traction control on the fly.

After the first month, I disabled most of the electronic nannies. I like to ride more raw and connected.

The ABS and traction control have gotten me out of more than one situation. It definitely makes riding the bike more confident to push the limits of the bike.

I actually leave it in one mode most of the time, honestly. Having options is nice, but it is information overload.

The electronics on my 890 love me. Having the ability to switch modes on the fly is super useful when going from pavement to dirt.
