Do the aerodynamic winglets on the RSV4 1100 Factory actually do anything or are they just for show?
As trickled down from MotoGP racing, the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory has carbon fiber winglets. It's claimed that these aerodynamic elements provide downforce at high speeds, and give stability and reduce wheelies. But riders are divided on whether the winglets make any noticeable difference in real world riding, particularly on the street. Are they really a performance enhancement, or just more marketing hype? Do average riders feel the effect of them only at track speeds or at all? I think we may as well talk experiences, opinions, and whether the winglets are worth the extra expense, complexity.
I really don't know if I can tell a difference. Can they not work at 180mph on the track, but for street riding? Pure bling.
