Do some reviews claim that the Astor's infotainment system is as laggy as it is?

One of the most talked about aspects of the MG Astor has been its infotainment system. The feature packed unit is one of the largest screens in its segment and comes with the much talked about AI assistant. While that’s mostly the case, there have been reports of lag, freezes and general unresponsiveness, particularly when used with specific apps or features. There are some users that claim that recent software updates have sped things up, but there are other users who still find it unnecessarily slow. Often part of the debate is whether the occasional sluggishness of the system is worth the features it provides, or if a simpler, more responsive system would be better. The other question is how the system looks at competing with the likes of the Creta or Seltos in day to day usability. In a tech forward car like the Astor, the infotainment experience is what can make or break it for many potential buyers.

I actually prefer the Astor’s system coming from a Hyundai. It’s a bit slower, but the interface is cleaner and much easier to use.

Restarting the system every few days seems to keep it running fine. It's not the best, but it's what I'm doing.

There's definitely a lag, especially with Android Auto. It sometimes takes a good 5–10 seconds to respond. On this front MG needs to step up its game.

I think people are too hard on Astor's infotainment. It’s not perfect, but it’s still one of the best systems in its class. Everything from the screen to the features is top notch.

It’s real lag, but it’s improved with updates. When I first got the car, it was pretty bad, but now it's mostly smooth sailing. It’s not as snappy as my phone, yet.

I don't have lag issues, am I the only one? 99% of the time, mine works fine. Perhaps I just happened to have luck on my unit?

I've had my Astor for about 8 months now and yeah, the infotainment occasionally lags. It’s not a deal breaker, but it can be annoying when you’re trying to quickly change something while driving.
