Did the Mahindra Naya Commander deserve a second chance?
Mahindra Naya Commander began its production from 2005 before its production was discontinued in 2010. Despite its unusual features such as a 9 seat configuration and strong 4x4 ability, it did not obtain a large market share. But, considering the current craze for rugged, boxy SUVs and the increasing need for a versatile family vehicle, the Naya Commander could have been a little ahead of its time. What would Mahindra’s Naya Commander look like today, if it were to be revived and modernized? What improvements or changes would have to be made to make it a success in today’s market?
Absolutely! It could be a killer family SUV, with some modern tech and a hybrid powertrain.
Nah, let sleeping dogs lie. Mahindra has moved on to better things like the XUV700 and Scorpio-N.
Maybe as an electric vehicle? Boxy design would help you maximize interior space with a flat battery floor.
To compete today it’d need a complete overhaul. It's just too outdated original concept.
I'd like to see it return as a hardcore off roader to take on the Gurkha, Thar and all that.
Second chance? It had barely deserved its first chance. The reason it didn't sell well is because there is a reason.
If they made them more practical but updated the looks and features, they'd be a hit with large families and small businesses.
As an EV, it'd be interesting as a retro styled one, like what Volkswagen did with the ID. Buzz.
