Could the Tata Magic IRIS be a successful electric vehicle for urban use?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Tata Magic IRIS is about to become a topic of interest as the world moves towards electric mobility. The vehicle is compact and is generally used in urban areas making it an interesting candidate for conversion to electric. But there are issues, like the cost of conversion, battery range for commercial use and the charging infrastructure in Indian cities. Others say that electrifying such vehicles could dramatically cut urban pollution and driving costs for drivers. There are others that doubt whether it makes more sense to develop new electric vehicles from scratch rather than convert existing models. This debate is also about sustainable urban transport and the question of electrifying India's diverse vehicle fleet.

Batteries could be a problem with weight. It might not work well and you might need to redesign the whole chassis.

The future is electric conversion. Begin with pilot projects in big cities, and grow from there.

It could work on some routes, but range anxiety would be a genuine issue for full day commercial use.

It's a great idea! Drivers would benefit from lower running costs and pollution would be cut. Win-win!

Battery cost might kill it though, but electric conversion could work.

Why convert? Tata should just design a new electric one from scratch. Would be more efficient.

In theory it sounds good, but the charging infrastructure isn’t there yet. Drivers are in for a nightmare.

Definitely! It’s the right size and urban use for electric conversion. It could be a game changer for clean city transport.
