Could the TAMO RaceMo help change perceptions about Indian automotive engineering?

The Indian automotive industry has been more known for budget friendly, practical vehicles than high performance machines. With a striking design and an agenda of ambitious performance targets, the TAMO RaceMo had the potential to change perceptions on a global scale. It proved that Indian engineers and designers can make a sports car that could be competitive with the established players. However, the project’s cancellation might have reinforced the earlier stereotypes about the Indian auto industry’s reach by way of capabilities in premium and performance segments. It makes you wonder if such halo projects can impact a country's automotive reputation and whether the RaceMo could have been that turning point for how Indian cars are viewed abroad.

Absolutely. That would have been a massive statement to the world that India can produce more than cheap cars.

I doubt it. It's never going to be one car that changes decades of perception. That would’ve been a fluke.

One model could have started the process, but real change would take sustained effort and more than one model.

Definitely. Check out how the NSX altered perceptions of Honda. Tata could have been the RaceMo.

The average person wouldn't care, but maybe among enthusiasts. It's the mass market cars that create the general perceptions.

At least it would have gotten people talking. That’s all you need sometimes to start changing minds.

Even when it didn't make it to production, I think it already changed some perceptions. It was impressive that Tata could design something like this.
