Could an Amo Mobility Feisty EV be a replacement for a petrol scooter for a family of four?
A single scooter of the Indian families plays a major role to maintain daily transportation needs with multiple passengers on it. Amo Mobility Feisty EV is marketed as a family friendly electric scooter, but can it really take the strain of a typical Indian family? In this, let’s take into account that the scooter will have a weight capacity, be stable with multiple riders, have storage for groceries or school bags and whether the battery range will be adequate for multiple trips in a day. How versatile and practical is it compared to regular petrol scooters for family use? If there are any specific challenges or benefits families have faced by switching from a petrol scooter to Feisty EV, we want to know. Tell us if you think this electric scooter can be a real one vehicle solution for a family of four in an Indian urban setting.
For the last six months, I've been using Feisty EV for my family of four and it's been surprisingly capable. The weight capacity is good enough that we can do short trips with two adults and two kids. It feels a bit underpowered compared to our old petrol scooter, but for longer journeys or when we need to carry lots of groceries this is certainly the one we’d choose.
Since I have two kids, I wouldn’t suggest the Feisty EV as a full substitute for a family car. When you have to make a couple of trips for school drops, office commutes, and errands, the range anxiety is real. Also, the storage space is quite limited for a family's need.
I believe there is a use case for the Feisty EV for a family, if a couple tweaks are made. It’s a great individual trip and even to drop kids to school. The real challenge is when you have to go out on longer family outings. It's actually quite practical for day to day urban use and saves us a ton on fuel costs.
I think the Feisty EV is better for a couple or small family with one child. It can technically carry four, and it’s unsafe and unstable on uneven roads. I'd say it makes a good secondary vehicle for a family, but not a full replacement for a petrol scooter.
After trading in our petrol scooter for the Feisty EV, it has been a real game changer for our family. Low running costs and zero emissions are in line with our values. Yes, it required us to change our habits a bit (planning our trips a bit better) but it meets 90% of our family's needs.
I’ve tested a number of electric scooters and I don’t think the Feisty EV is a family vehicle. The battery life was inconsistent when heavy loads were used, and the performance on inclines with multiple passengers was disappointing. Solo rides are fine, but they're not good for a family of four.
People underestimate the Feisty EV's capabilities, I think. It works well for us, we are using it as our primary vehicle and we are a family of four. Adapt your usage – now we make the trips more often and shorter than the long, loaded ones. And we save a lot of money on fuel.
For our family, the Feisty EV has been adequate, but it’s not compromise free. It's enough for our day to day use but we had to buy additional storage solutions for shopping trips. It is definitely more eco friendly, but I do miss the convenience of having a petrol scooter that I can top up in a flash for long unexpected trips.
However, my experience is that the Feisty EV can act as a petrol scooter replacement for a family depending on your lifestyle. It’s great if you live in a city with good charging infrastructure and mostly do short trips. But in families where they travel much farther or in places where roads are not good, a petrol scooter may still make more sense.
We gave the Feisty EV a try as our main family vehicle but eventually reverted to a petrol scooter. The main issue was, that it was just too slow and had too short range to keep up with our busy schedule and need to sometimes go to nearby towns. For some families it might work, but it wasn’t versatile enough for us.
