Can we really call the Discover 125T Disc's pillion seat a "torture rack"?
Owners and their passengers have been debating the pillion comfort of the Bajaj Discover 125T Disc. The rider's seat, which is generally lauded for comfort, is a different story with the pillion seat. A few passengers are unhappy with the seat being too narrow, too hard or too sloped to be comfortable on a long ride. Some say that for a bike in this segment, it’s fine. The debate often continues on to a comparison with other commuter bikes in the same price range. As for pillion comfort, some owners have had to resort to aftermarket seat modifications, or cushions. In India, many bikes are used to carry two people regularly and this is a particularly important issue. Often the discussion revolves around whether Bajaj should have more focused on pillion comfort during design, considering the bike is meant to be a family commuter.
It's not that bad! My wife rides pillion all the time and doesn't complain. These days people are just too picky.
Torture rack is an understatement. For more than 10 minutes, my girlfriend won't ride on it. It's a deal-breaker for couples.
I put a gel cushion cover on it, and it’s actually pretty comfortable now. A little DIY goes a long way!
In this segment of bikes, the Discover’s pillion seat is average compared to other bikes. Not great, not terrible. You get what you pay for.
Having ridden pillion quite often, I’d say it’s fine for short trips, but after 30 minutes or so, it starts to become uncomfortable. Definitely room for improvement.
I think people exaggerate. It’s not a luxury tourer, it’s a budget commuter. The pillion seat is good enough for daily city use.
The real issue is where the footpeg is. Overall pillion experience would have been much better if Bajaj had placed them better.
I've ridden pillion on worse. At least the Discover features a decent grab rail. It's not bad for a bike in this class with some adjustment.
