Can the Pulsar N160 tackle long distance touring?
A comfortable, performance and reliable motorcycle for touring is a tricky thing to get right, especially in the 160cc segment. Pulsar N160, created as a sporty commuter, has also raised some questions about its touring potential. Riders debate the comfort over longer distances, highway fuel economy, cruising stability at highway speeds and how much you can carry for holidays. There is plenty of contention surrounding the steady engine performance over periods of time and the ergonomics of the bike for time spent in the saddle. It’s been argued that its features make it a good candidate for weekend getaways, while others say it’s not cut out for serious touring. It also often gets into the discussion of how it compares to purpose built tourers and whether modifications can make it a better long distance riding machine.
I made a 500km trip on the N160, and it did surprisingly well. The engine doesn't seem to be worked hard at highway speeds, and the seat is comfortable enough. While it’s no tourer, it’s easily capable of weekend trips.
