Can the Mahindra e2o Plus be truly practical for daily city commutes?

The e2o Plus is designed to be an ideal city car, but it has concerns over range, charging infrastructure and practicality in general in Indian urban conditions. Users who love this car will accept its compact size and ease of parking, users who don’t simply worry about range anxiety and the lack of charging stations. Its small size also means that there are obvious questions about how safe it would be in chaotic city traffic. On top of that, the initial costs to purchase compared to other petrol cars, with the same size, also prevent some potential buyers from making their purchases. Now, let’s talk about what owners of e2o Plus have to say about the real world experience of owning an e2o Plus, and whether it does live up to its billing as the perfect urban electric vehicle.

It’s been over a year now that I’ve been using the e2o Plus for my daily office commute and it has been a game changer! It goes a lot further than my 30km round trip and I just plug it in at night. No more visits to the fuel station, or oil changes. It's also so easy to park in tight spots.

Practical? If you live next door to your workplace, maybe. With my e2o, I had constant range anxiety. In real world use with AC on, the claimed range is a joke. If you run out of juice mid way, good luck finding a charging point.

It’s practical, but as a second car only. It works great for most of our city errands and short trips. We still use our petrol car when we need more space or when we need to travel longer distances. It’s just about managing expectations.

I think it's ahead of its time for India. There is great idea but no infrastructure yet. After six months, I sold mine because I was sick of planning the day around how far it would go and how much it needed to charge.

I love the idea, as a tech enthusiast, but it isn't executed right. The app is buggy, the battery charges finicky, and the battery degrades faster than I’d expect. We're beta testing the technology, it feels like.
