Can the Bullet 650 follow in the footsteps of its 350cc predecessor?

For decades the Royal Enfield Bullet has been an iconic motorcycle in India and the 350cc version has become the stuff of legend with many riders. With the Bullet 650 launch approaching, people are excited to know if it can recreate the same magic and significance that the Bullet line has created in India. No matter what I believe, I know that will command more power and modern features, but some worry that it will trade away the simplicity and character that made the original Bullet so endearing. There are also questions about whether the heavier weight and possibly higher price of the 650 will detract from its appeal to the average Indian rider. However, many are excited to see a more highway capiable Bullet that can compete against the bigger displacement bikes with classic styling.

The OG Bullet 350 is irreplaceable, no way. There’s no modern 650 twin that can make that thumping sound and that bare bones simplicity.

I think it has a good shot. The 650 twins have been well received, and to put one of those engines in the Bullet chassis could really be a perfect blend of old and new.

I’m sure it’ll be great, but it’s not going to have the same cultural impact. For decades, the 350 was THE bike. It's entering a much more crowded market than the 650.

As long as they style it well and keep it simple, it could become a new legend. It will make it way more practical for touring with the extra power.

Nothing will ever match the OG Bullet’s status, let’s be real. The 650 could have been its own niche retro bike, though.

I'm optimistic. I think RE has done a good job with their new models. If they can keep the essence of the Bullet, but add modern reliability, it could be a winner.

For most Indian buyers, it’s gonna be too expensive and heavy. Partly, it was popular because it was accessible. It could turn out to be more of a niche product than the 650.
