Can the Amo Mobility Inspirer take us on long weekend trips?

by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Electric scooters like the Amo Mobility Inspirer are primarily intended for urban commuting, but the trend is picking up to use them for longer rides, weekend getaways, etc. All of this begs the question of what the range of the Inspirer is, how comfortable it is when used for extended periods, and what it is capable of navigating through in terms of terrain. Riders have told stories of successful day trips, but also concerns about battery life and the lack of charging stations outside city limits. And then, there is also debate about how the Inspirer stacks up against traditional petrol scooters for these longer journeys. Is the Inspirer a viable weekend escape for city slickers, or is it just for those who like to visit the city on weekends?

Now let’s be real, if you want to do regular long trips, get a proper motorcycle. What the Inspirer is, is great, but it’s limited. As it isn't designed to do what you’re trying to force it to do.

I've changed my Inspirer to a larger battery for longer trips. It's not stock, but it does have potential. With a few tweaks these scooters could surely be viable for weekend warriors.

That depends on what you consider 'long'. For 50-60km trips, it's fine. It’s beyond that, you’re pushing it. The biggest limitation of longer journeys is the lack of fast charging options on highways.

For day trips around the outskirts of my city, I've found it great. If you're not going too far it's comfortable enough for a few hours of riding and the range is fine. It won't cross states, though.

I honestly believe that people are trying to make the Inspirer something it is not. It’s not a touring bike—it’s a city commuter. If you stick to what it's designed for, you'll be happier.

You can do it, but it takes some planning. Mine does a few 60-70km trips. The trick is to seek out charging stations along the way. A petrol scooter is more convenient, but if you're determined it's doable.

Recently I took my Inspirer on a 100km round trip and it was... an adventure. Got there and back, but just. Rode super conservatively to extend the battery life. Not recommended for regular long trips.
