Can the Amo Jaunty manage grocery runs and other errands with cargo space?
Scooters are one of the selling points of the scooters, due to its practicality when it comes to urban errands and trips to the mall. As electric scooter the Amo Jaunty may hold different battery size. Does it do a good job of shopping for groceries or picking up dry cleaning? Can bags and packages fit under the seat or on the floorboard? Can you bolt on things like a rear rack or basket to increase carrying capacity? Does it degrade the scooter’s range or performance too much to be a problem? Next, let’s hear from Jaunty owners about how they use the scooter for everyday errands and how it stacks up against other transportation options for these tasks.
Out of the box the Jaunty's storage is pretty limited. Under the seat is a small compartment that only just accommodates my helmet. That helps a ton for groceries, and I added a rear rack as well. But you just have to be careful not to overload it.
I do grocery runs with my Jaunty all the time. There is enough space on the floorboard to wedge a couple of bags between my feet. Not ideal, but in a pinch it works. It definitely impacts the handling though.
I am honestly disappointed in the Jaunty for serious errands. The storage is limited and carrying extra weight reduces the range making it impractical for anything other than grabbing a few small items. I still do big grocery trips in my car.
With a little bit of creativity, the Jaunty can do most errands. For smaller items I use a backpack and for bulkier stuff I added a front basket. It's not as convenient as a car, but it makes me shop more efficiently.
My biggest gripe with the Jaunty is the lack of cargo space. What I really wish Amo would offer are some official storage accessories. I’m using some generic scooter bags for now, but they aren’t a perfect fit.
In fact, I rather like using the Jaunty for quick errands than my car. Because I know I don't have all the space in the world, I'm less tempted to overbuy and it's so much easier to park. It has definitely made me shop better.
The real limiting factor is the weight capacity. I have found that loading the Jaunty up with too many groceries kills the battery life and makes it feel unstable. Great for small trips but not for stocking up.
