Can tall passengers fit into the Tata Tiago's cabin space and comfort?
The cabin space and comfort are important things that many people come for while buying cars in the compact hatchback segment where the place matters to them. Although small on the outside, the Tata Tiago is said to have a spacious cabin. But the debate continues over just how comfortable it is, especially for the taller passengers. The Tiago’s clever packaging of its interior has had some praise in the ownership reviews and some have complained of limited headroom or legroom on the rear seats. A discussion of this nature often includes comparisons with other cars in the segment, and how they do space inside. Ergonomics of the driver's position, seat comfort on long journeys and the general feeling of spaciousness or claustrophobia inside the cabin are also discussed. If you are a family or a group of friends who are thinking of buying the Tiago, then it’s important to know how comfortable the Tiago truly is for different body types.
As a 6-footer, the Tiago is surprisingly comfortable to drive. There is enough back in the seat, and the steering adjusts well. It’s a little tight in the rear seat for me, but short trips are fine.
I believe that the space of the Tiago is overhyped. It's fine for average sized folk, but if you're over 5'10" you'll feel cramped, especially in the back. The sloping roofline is good looking but at the expense of headroom.
It's all about expectations. But the Tiago does a decent job for a car in this segment. Is a Honda City as spacious? Of course not. It’s less urbane than something like a Maruti Alto but for the same kind of car, it feels very airy and open.
You can definitely fit 4 adults on a long road trip in my Tiago (it’s not luxurious, but it’s doable). What’s important is to take breaks and stretch. Long drives are actually quite comfortable in the front seats.
I like the large windows one thing about the Tiago. It makes the cabin feel bigger than it is and only helps with visibility. While it is a small thing, it really does make a big difference in the overall feeling of roominess.
