Can budget conscious riders afford to get hyped about the Bajaj CT125X?

As an affordable, no frills commuter bike the Bajaj CT125X has been gaining a lot of buzz in the Indian motorcycle market. Its pitch: It's a rugged workhorse that can stand up to tough conditions and be good for the wallet too. But some riders aren't convinced the device actually does what it promises, or if it's all just marketing. When looking at long term ownership costs, does the CT125X really give you good value for money? Are the budget buyers made to compromise on any hidden build quality or reliability features? Then, let's dig in to the pros and cons and find out if the hype is real for this bike, or if riders can do better by looking at other options in the segment.

At the price, it's a decent starter bike. It’s perfect for learning and getting comfortable on two wheels, without breaking the bank. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance it should serve you well.

But I think it’s a bit overhyped. This is just a basic commuter, nothing special about it. The ride is pretty stiff, and the seat gets uncomfable on longer rides. If you are mostly doing short trips, then okay, but there are better options if you need versatility.

The CT125X is hard to beat if you are a daily commuter. It's fuel efficient, easy to drive in traffic and parts are inexpensive. Don't expect a highway cruiser or a performance machine. If you know what it can and can’t do, you’ll be happy with it.

I'm not sold on it. You know, it's cheap upfront, but Bajaj's after sales service is a nightmare. In the long run you may be spending more on repairs and maintenance. In this segment, I’d rather save up a bit more and go for a Honda or TVS.

If you are on a tight budget, honestly, I think the CT125X is a solid choice. It’s not fancy, but it works. I’ve owned one for a few months, and for the price it is surprisingly capable. It has decent build quality and rough roads can take a beating with it.
