But did the Discover 150S have the best headlight in its segment?

Safety and one of the most important features of a bike is lighting, particularly since riders often end up on poorly lit Indian roads. The Bajaj Discover 150S was famous for its powerful headlight, which some riders say was the best in its class. As a result, there have been debates as to how important good lighting on motorcycles is, especially in the 150cc budget segment. Others think that the Discover got away with it because its headlight was so much better than the competition's, and others think it just had a better headlight. Broader issues of safety, the history of motorcycle lighting technology, and whether or not manufacturers should consider including advanced lighting features in more affordable models are also discussed. It also probes into rider preferences – would they buy a bike with a powerful headlight regardless of other features, and how much does a powerful headlight contribute to purchasing decisions?

The Discover's secret weapon was the headlight. That’s probably why many people bought it over other 150cc bikes. Bajaj should've marketed it more.

For its time, it was a great headlight, but technology's moved on. LED setups are far better than modern ones. It's nostalgia talking about the Discover's light.

I loved the Discover's headlight. It made me feel safer when I had to ride late at night. I wish they'd given us a better taillight to match.

It was good headlight, but it's weird to focus on that. It's like saying you like a car for having a great cupholder. What about the rest of the bike?

Best in segment? Maybe. Best overall? Nah. And my friend’s KTM Duke makes the Discover’s headlight look like a candle.

Any fancy LED setup would be my last choice for a headlight, I'd take the Discover's headlight. Simple, effective and it didn’t blind oncoming traffic. Perfect for Indian roads.

The battery went crazy when I used the headlight. If your bike won't start in the morning, what's the point in seeing everything?

It was good, but I’m not saying it was great. The Pulsar's headlight was as good if not better than the headlight. Bajaj knows their lighting game.

Best headlight? More like best spotlight! My Discover, I swear, could light up half the street. This makes night rides so much safer.
