As the battery of the Amo Jaunty degrades over time, how does the performance of the Amo Jaunty change?

Like all electric vehicles, including e scooters, the Amo Jaunty suffers from battery degradation. Battery capacity and capability can decline as the battery ages and goes through multiple charge cycles. How much does this effect the Jaunty's real world range and power output? Are older Jaunty scooters worse on hills or with carrying capacity? How long does the battery last before you need a replacement? How does Amo's warranty cover battery issues? So let's hear from long term Jaunty owners about how their battery has performed over time, and how it affects the practicality of the scooter as a daily driver.

I’ve had my Jaunty about 18 months and I’ve definitely noticed battery degradation. I probably lost 15-20% of my original range. I still use it for my commute, but have to charge more often.

In my experience, the performance drop is not linear. I barely noticed any change the first year. Following that, however, the decline appeared to quicken. At 2 years old, hills that were once easy are a real struggle.

A lot depends on how you treat the battery, I think. I’m religious about not letting it drop below 20% and never fully charging it, and my 2 year old Jaunty still runs great. This makes a huge difference in proper battery care.

It's annoying it has a reduced range, but what really bugs me is the loss of pep. My older Jaunty really isn't as zippy as it used to be. It’s especially noticeable when you’re trying to keep up with traffic from a stop.

After 2.5 years I bit the bullet and replaced my battery. But it was expensive, and it's like having a new scooter. For me, this is a normal maintenance cost for an e vehicle.

When mine degraded faster than expected, Amo's warranty covered a partial battery replacement. In fact, their customer service was pretty good about it. Of course, worth checking your warranty terms.

I've noticed the battery degrades the most in cold weather. My summer range still isn't bad but my winter range has really dropped off as the battery has aged.

Even with some degradation, my 3 year old Jaunty is still way more economical than a gas scooter. A bit inconvenient, but still cost savings.
