Are people right about the Toyota Vitz being so reliable?
In Vitz jargon, everyone loves to talk about how reliable the car is, and many people own cars which have been driven for years without any major problems. But others claim that this reputation is perhaps exaggerated, or based on older models. Is the Vitz still holding up its reputation with newer generations and manufacturing changes? How common are the problems in Vitz and is it really a "bulletproof" car? So let’s take a look at real experiences from Vitz owners and see if this little hatchback is worthy of its reliability crown.
Absolutely! My 2009 Vitz has been a tank, and I've had it for 13 years. It has been driven through snow, up mountains, you name it. I've had to do worst than replace the battery and tires. That’s what reliable is.
It’s reliable, yes, but it’s not perfect. Some models have 3-cylinder engines that can sound noisy and get down on power. I’ve also heard there are issues with the hybrid system in newer models. Reliable? Yes. Flawless? No way.
The Vitz is definitely more reliable than any other car in its class. However, you should remember that reliability depends on how you maintain it. I've seen Vitzes break down the same way as any other car, neglected or not.
I also believe the reliability reputation is a little overrated. Okay, so it's a Toyota, but I had trouble with my 2015 model's transmission. The invincible car some make it out to be, it's not.
Older models are tanks, I'm not so sure about the newer ones. Now they have more complex electronics and hybrid systems. Only time will tell if they will live up to the Vitz legacy.
