Are people right about the Mahindra TUV300 being unreliable?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Car enthusiasts in India have been debating the Mahindra TUV300. Fans of the Hummer swear by its sturdy build and ability to get through rough terrains, while others have flooded the Web with horror stories related to early models. Usually, the discussion is about electrical problems, suspension problems and overall build quality. Some, however, say the vehicle is still trailing competitors when it comes to reliability, while others argue later batches addressed many of these concerns. Polarizing opinions make it difficult for potential buyers to judge the real reliability of the TUV300. On top of that, it is also an intriguing product from a design perspective and adds another element to the question of what value it provides as a whole.

It's all about expectations. If you look at it compared to more expensive SUVs, then yeah, it seems unreliable. For the price it's actually decent.

Later batches got a lot more reliable. If you're buying used, steer clear of the first year models and it should be fine. They learned from their mistakes.

I'd have to say it's as reliable as you keep it. If you follow the service schedule and don't abuse it too much off road it'll treat you well. It is not one of those delicate city cars.

People exaggerate. It’s not Toyota level reliable, but it’s not a total disaster. It’s built for rough use so some wear and tear is expected.

It's hit or miss, really. I have seen some TUV300s running like tanks and some which seem to fall apart. I believe Mahindra has had inconsistent quality control.

No way, man. The TUV300 has been a nightmare for my cousin. Within the first year it had constant electrical issues, and the suspension needed work. It's been more in the service center than on the road.

I’ve had my TUV300 for 3 years now and I’ve to say it’s been pretty solid. The beginning was sure, there were some minor niggles, but nothing major. A lot of the bad rep, I think, is due to the early models.
