Are all these new features in the Dzire risking Maruti's reliability reputation?

As a result, Maruti Suzuki has built its empire in India on the back of reliable, low maintenance and easy to repair vehicles. But the new Dzire comes with the ADAS, a 360 camera system and a more elaborate infotainment system as well. These additions are great and make the car more attractive, more competitive, but they are more points of failure. But this shift also asks questions about the long term reliability and maintenance costs of such complex systems, as well as what happens when skilled technicians are needed to repair these advanced systems but they are too few and far between in small towns and rural areas. Maruti, however, is just another example of the pursuit of looking good, trying to stay in trend with the times, they argue, while others are concerned that Maruti might be letting its core strengths slide. It also addresses how the brand should strike a balance between modernization and its reputation for hassle free ownership.

I'm worried. With more tech comes more that can go wrong. The simplicity had always been Maruti's strength.

It's a necessary risk. They can’t keep selling the same old tech forever. It should be fine as long as they keep their service network.

It could actually make things more reliable in the long run. Less repairs overall means things like ADAS can prevent accidents.

I'm skeptical. Do you remember when they brought in the AMT? All the issues took years to iron out. It’s all history repeating itself.

If Maruti can do this, then they'll silence all the people who say they only make 'basic' cars. I'm rooting for them!

How will these features fare in typical Indian conditions after 5-6 years is the real test. Only time will tell.

Charu on 11 December 2024 07:54
Repair costs are what I care more about. Yes, it might be reliable, but what happens when that 360º camera system needs replacing?

Chandan on 20 December 2024 08:58
This could be a great way to upskill Maruti's service network. Everyone wins if they invest in training their mechanics.

We must not forget Maruti’s huge R&D experience. But if anyone can bring these features reliably to India, it’s them.
