Is the Skoda Kamiq's rear legroom as good as they say it is?

The Kamiq's rear space is a godsend as a parent with two kids in car seats. I can actually reach back to help them without having to contort myself. Some may not care, but for families, it’s a plus.
Is the Skoda Kamiq's rear legroom as good as they say it is?

The legroom hype sold me on a Kamiq. It's honestly good, but not revolutionary as I expected. What I didn't take into account is that the cabin width is pretty narrow, and three adults in the back can be a bit of a squeeze.
Is the Skoda Kamiq's rear legroom as good as they say it is?

I was skeptical about how much space the Kamiq would have coming from a larger SUV. I've been pleasantly surprised, but. But it’s not just legroom: The large rear doors make getting in and out easy, and that makes the cabin feel roomy.
Is the Skoda Kamiq's rear legroom as good as they say it is?

For most people, the rear legroom in the Kamiq is more than enough, let's be real. I think the space back there is perfectly adequate for a car in this class unless you're regularly chauffeuring NBA players.
How does the Skoda Kamiq ride in comparison to its rivals and on rough roads?

I have driven the Kamiq and VW T Cross and the Kamiq just feels more planted on rough roads. Without the floaty feeling, it soaks up bumps better. The suspension tuning was nailed by Skoda.
How does the Skoda Kamiq ride in comparison to its rivals and on rough roads?

At least, I am too picky, but for my taste the Kamiq's ride is a bit too firm. On potholed city streets, it can get jarring, but it’s fine on smooth highways. A family oriented SUV is not something I expected to be uncomfortable.

Compared to a Ford EcoSport, the Kamiq feels like a luxury car. Not Rolls Royce smooth, but for the money, it’s impressive. They make the long motorway journeys a breeze.
How does the Skoda Kamiq ride in comparison to its rivals and on rough roads?

It’s very good ride quality, but the thing that really stands out to me is the noise insulation. It’s pretty quiet in the cabin, even on rough roads. That makes the whole experience feel a bit more premium than some of the more expensive competitors.
How does the Skoda Kamiq ride in comparison to its rivals and on rough roads?

The ride quality I think depends a lot on the wheel size. I drove another one with 18 inch wheels and it was too harsh. I ended up buying the 16 inch version and it’s much more comfortable on our potholed roads.

Living out in the country, with lots of rocky, unpaved roads, I've been impressed with the Kamiq's ability to navigate. It's built on gravel and doesn't feel like some other compact SUVs I've tried that have been out of their depth.
How does the Skoda Kamiq ride in comparison to its rivals and on rough roads?
06 January 2025 10:34
It's a compact SUV, let's be real, it's not a Range Rover. For what it is, the ride is good, but if you're hoping this will ride over the errors in the pavement you may be disappointed. That’s the game of managing expectations.
Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?
06 January 2025 10:34
I've had my Kamiq a year now and some of those Simply Clever features have actually proved surprisingly handy. On particularly frosty mornings, the ice scraper really is a lifesaver and I've used the umbrella so many times. The little things do count.
Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?
06 January 2025 10:34
I believe most of these features are just gimmicks, honestly. So, who doesn't already have an ice scraper or umbrella? Skoda tries a bit too hard to be quirky. Maybe they should spend time to make core feature such as infotainment system or ride quality better.

I’ve owned a few cars and Skoda’s attention to detail is something I notice. Yes, some of these features may seem like gimmicks, but it’s nice to see that the company is thinking about real world usability. The LED flashlight has been useful in roadside emergencies.
Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?
06 January 2025 10:34
I'm on the fence about this. Some of the features are really useful, others feel kind of forced. The real question is whether they make up for the Kamiq’s price premium over certain competitors.
Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?
06 January 2025 10:34
Most of us forget these features even exist after the first month of ownership, so let’s be real. They're nice to have, but I wouldn't buy on them. Any day give me better fuel efficiency or more cargo space.
Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?
06 January 2025 10:34
I feel we are missing the point here. It’s not going to be a game changer, but it adds character to the car. It's a breath of fresh air to see a manufacturer thinking outside the box instead of just numbers of horsepower.

Some of these features, as a parent, are absolutely practical. The windscreen washer has an integrated funnel in the actual tank, which has saved me before countless times from spills. These small conveniences make family life a little easier.
Are some owners right and the Skoda Felicia really 'unroastable'?
06 January 2025 10:26
No car is unroastable. The Felicia is sure, reliable, but it’s also boring as watching paint dry.
Are some owners right and the Skoda Felicia really 'unroastable'?
06 January 2025 10:26
It’s unroastable in the same way a Nokia 3310 is – yeah it’s tough, but would you really want to use one today?
