I think people are being a bit harsh on the Sonet. The back's a little snug but Kia has done a good job of the seat cushioning and backrest angle. But it’s way more comfortable than some other cars in this segment.

To be honest, if you're looking for back seat space, you should not even be considering sub 4m SUVs. For a small family, the Sonet makes the most of its dimensions, and it’s more than adequate.

I have the 2024 facelift model, and I honestly swear they've made the rear seat more comfortable. The knee room is definitely helped by the scooped out front seatbacks. It's not huge, but it does feel noticeably better than the older version I test drove.

I’ve been in the back of many Sonets as a frequent Uber user. For short trips it’s fine, but anything over an hour and you can feel the lack of space. For adults, the middle seat is useless.

It all depends on how you expect things to be. The Sonet is spacious, coming out of a hatchback. If you're coming down from a bigger SUV, however, you might find it cramped. It's all relative.

But if the rear space is as good as they say, it could be a game changer. Better ratings for drivers come from more comfortable passengers.

I don't know if that's going to make a whole lot of difference. Uber/Ola drivers most of the time go for the cheapest option that qualifies. Will the Clavis be competitive priced?

This isn’t just about space, it’s about durability. We're talking if Kia can prove that the Clavis can stand up to the wear and tear of constant use.

That could be a smart move by Kia. This could be a steady stream of fleet sales into the ride hailing market.

I think it will depend on the fuel efficiency. Drivers care more about running costs, but rear space is great.

If Uber/Ola likes it then their private buyers will be turned off. In India, there’s a stigma around ‘taxi models’.

That's an interesting angle, but I think Kia's really more focused on family buyers. It would be a bonus to the ride hailing market rather than the main target.

They're amazing! I drove a 12 hour road trip and felt like I had a first class seat on a plane. The best car seats I have ever used.

Overrated. The leg rest is useless unless you’re short, but they look cool. I’d prefer seats that are easy to remove for cargo.

For a couple of hours, it was comfortable enough — but since they weren’t capable of fully reclining or stretching out, really long trips were beginning to take a toll on me.

For parents they're a game changer. I wouldn't be able to swivel and pay attention to the kids in the back and be comfortable.
I wonder if the swiveling seats of the Ioniq 9 will influence the family car market.

I think it's a game changer for families. How about being able to face your kids on long trips, or a mobile conference room for work? It’s kind of like having a minivan’s versatility in a cooler package.
