Reliability is on my mind. The more complex something is, the more there are things that can go wrong.

I think it will smoke ICE bikes in the city. Instant torque for the win! In terms of traditional bikes though, they might still have the advantage on long stretches of highway or long off road sessions.

Although there’s no engine braking or clutch control, this could be tricky in technical off road situations. There, ICE scramblers still have an advantage.

On loose surfaces, it could be amazing if they nail the power delivery. Super smooth traction control can be provided by electric motors.

My biggest concern is the weight of the batteries. Usually ICE scramblers are pretty light and nimble.

In fact, it could be better for novice off road riders. You don’t have to worry about stalling out or being in the wrong gear.

Range anxiety is real. At least, you can have a small gas can for emergencies with a gas bike. Not so easy with batteries.
And does the Flying Flea S6's girder fork suspension really make a difference to the ride?

The girder fork is actually pretty cool, I think. The S6 has a unique look and probably handles bumps better than standard forks. It might not be the easiest to get used to but it'd be fun!

No, it's just RE trying too hard to be 'retro'. Why fix what isn’t broken? Modern USD forks work great. And good luck finding parts if something breaks.

I’m an engineer, and I’m intrigued. Potentially, girder forks could be more stable when braking. In fact, it may even improve handling in some cases.

It’s probably a bit of both, part marketing, part function. I want to get a ride on it and see how it stacks up to my current bike with traditional forks.

Realistically most buyers will buy it for the looks. If it’s just all eye candy, that’s fine too. But if it turns out to be more than that, that’s a bonus.

I'm skeptical. Seems like it would add weight to the front end and lessen the nimbleness of the front end. That said, I’ll reserve judgment until I can try it myself.
Will the Flying Flea S6's scrambler styling make it off road, or is it all for show?

I can bet that it'll do just fine on gravel roads and light trails. It won’t be a hardcore dirt bike, but that’s not what scramblers are about anyway.

All show, no go. However, electric bikes are too heavy to do serious off roading with. Although it’ll look cool parked at the cafe.

Actually, the instant torque from the electric motor could be great off road. If RE tunes it right, might surprise a lot of people.

I’d be happy as long as it can handle fire roads and some mild single track. Not everybody needs a full blown enduro bike.
