Will the Flying Flea S6's chain drive affect the electric riding experience differently than hub motors?
09 January 2025 10:32
The disadvantage to chain drive is that there are more moving parts to maintain, but the advantage is it’s easier to repair if something goes wrong. Try fixing a hub motor yourself!

I'm curious about the noise. The cool futuristic electric motor sound will drown out the chain whine, right?
Will the Flying Flea S6's chain drive affect the electric riding experience differently than hub motors?

In fact, the chain drive could actually be more efficient than the belt drive at highway speeds. That could translate to better range for touring.
Will the Flying Flea S6's chain drive affect the electric riding experience differently than hub motors?

It's probably just a cost saving measure. Good hub motors are more expensive to make than chain drives. That hopefully means less money for us!
Is the Flying Flea C6 a practical everyday urban commuter?
09 January 2025 10:23
It could be great for short commutes, I think. The smaller size should make it easy to work though traffic and get into tight parking situations. And as an electric, there are no emissions for the eco conscious city dweller. The real test will be range and the charging infrastructure.
Is the Flying Flea C6 a practical everyday urban commuter?
09 January 2025 10:23
I commute daily in a busy city, so I am skeptical. For longer rides, that seating position looks uncomfortable, so where am I supposed to put my backpack or groceries? Despite being stylish, I need something more practical.
Is the Flying Flea C6 a practical everyday urban commuter?

The idea is interesting, but I don’t know if it’s practical enough. For bad weather, I’d rather have an electric scooter with storage space or even a small electric car for urban use. The Flying Flea C6 appears to occupy a no man's land.
Is the Flying Flea C6 a practical everyday urban commuter?

It could work well for city commuting, I actually think. Electric motor means low maintenance, and in traffic the upright position should give good visibility. If they hit the range right and throw in some cool storage solutions, it could be a winner.
Is the Flying Flea C6 a practical everyday urban commuter?

I love the idea as a motorcycle enthusiast, but I’m not sure it’s the most practical choice. For weekend rides, it might be fun, but daily commuting has probably a lot more comfy and versatile options out there.
The design of the Flying Flea C6: Does it compromise performance for style?
09 January 2025 10:23
It's not so simple, I don't think. In fact, the unique design could actually enhance some parts of performance, such as aerodynamics. The compact frame would also make it super agile in city traffic, plus. It's not until people get to test ride it that we'll know for sure.
The design of the Flying Flea C6: Does it compromise performance for style?
09 January 2025 10:23
It looks cool, but I'm afraid it's function over form. That thin frame doesn't seem to inspire confidence for stability, and where's the space for a decent sized battery? I'm afraid they compromised range and power at the expense of style.
The design of the Flying Flea C6: Does it compromise performance for style?

I believe RE might be on to something. Gas bikes have to follow a certain form, but electric bikes don’t. In this case, the unusual design might actually improve performance in ways we're not used to thinking about.
The design of the Flying Flea C6: Does it compromise performance for style?
09 January 2025 10:23
It's an urban commuter, not a sport bike, lets be real. I think the design will do just fine for its intended purpose. It doesn’t have to be record breaking, it just has to be efficient and easy to ride in the city.

I’ll reserve judgment until I see some real world tests. It’s easy to be deceived by looks, remember the BMW C1 scooter? This may be an example where unconventional design yields unexpected benefit.
Can Royal Enfield take a bite out of a new, younger market with the Flying Flea C6?
09 January 2025 10:23
RE is smart to make this move, I think. They need to attract younger riders to remain relevant, and the retro market is increasingly becoming saturated. A Flying Flea C6 could be really appealing to millennials and Gen Z who want something different, and a blend of heritage and futuristic design.
Can Royal Enfield take a bite out of a new, younger market with the Flying Flea C6?
09 January 2025 10:23
I worry that it will alienate their core fanbase, but maybe it will attract some new riders. Classic appeal has always been RE’s strength. They could try to be too modern and please nobody. The electric motorcycle market is not new and has already established players.
Can Royal Enfield take a bite out of a new, younger market with the Flying Flea C6?
09 January 2025 10:23
As a younger rider, I’m actually excited about this. What it demonstrates is that RE is ready to innovate, take risk. It’s definitely a big plus for me that it’s electric, and it’s the only thing out there that looks like this. In my age group, it could certainly do some head turning.
Can Royal Enfield take a bite out of a new, younger market with the Flying Flea C6?
09 January 2025 10:23
I think its a step in the right direction but they’ll have to nail the marketing. If they can make it a cool, eco-friendly urban commuter with a bit of heritage, they could catch on with younger buyers who may not have otherwise considered RE.
Can Royal Enfield take a bite out of a new, younger market with the Flying Flea C6?
09 January 2025 10:23
It’s a gamble, but maybe it’ll work. Pricing and performance will be the key. If they can keep that unique RE character, and make it affordable and practical for urban youth, they might just crack the younger market. They will, however, need to support this with a great social media presence and influencer partnerships.
Is the Flying Flea C6 a homage to its WWII predecessor in name only, or does it pay homage to that model in spirit as well?
09 January 2025 10:23
It was definitely more of a spiritual successor than being a direct replica. The original Flying Flea was a utility and compact airplane for military use. Clearly this is a new one designed for the urban commuter market. I think that’s fine, they are modernising the concept for current needs and keeping some design nods to the original.
