It’s a good first step, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. A basic car with outdated design and features, the Tour V (O) is still. While a good safety rating isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make it a great family car option.

I don't know how this translates to real world safety. Yes, it passed crash tests, but did it have active safety features? Does it have ABS, EBD and multiple airbulbs? Those matter too.

It could change the game in the taxi market. Safer roads for everyone means safer cabs. If the Tour V (O) is adopted by more fleet operators, it could have far reaching implications for road safety in India.

No way! There is more than enough to be said about features, safety, and style in compact SUVs. The Tour V (O) might be spacious, but it looks like a dinosaur compared to other SUVs of today.

In fact, the Tour V (O) wins hands down for pure practicality. It’s easier for older folks to get in and out of, and it’s got more usable space than most compact SUVs. It's cheaper to buy and maintain too.

I believe it’s dependent on your needs. A compact SUV is a good choice if you do a lot of highway driving, or you need ground clearance for bad roads. The Tour V(O) is hard to beat for city use and pure space efficiency.

Now, I have owned both and I prefer the Tour V (O) for large families. We fit way more people and luggage than ever in our previous compact SUV. You miss out on some nice to have features, but.

The Tour V (O) might be practical, but it’s not aspirational. Compact SUVs tick all the right boxes: people want to feel good about their car choice, and they also want decent practicality. Maximizing space isn’t always everything.

The Tour V (O) could compete, I think, if Maruti gave it a modern interior and some basic features. There is already space, it just needs a bit of an update to attract private buyers.

I am actually a big fan of the simplicity. There is less stuff to go wrong, it's easier to maintain, and cheaper to repair. A rolling smartphone isn’t for everyone or everyone.

The lack of features is no way a deal breaker. Even in budget cars, basic things like a decent infotainment system and rear parking sensors are now must haves.

It's a matter of use case, I think. In the case of a taxi or a fleet vehicle, it makes sense. Most people, however, expect at least some modern conveniences for a personal car.

Granted I do like the durability argument, but safety features shouldn’t be considered frills. ABS and airbags are not luxuries, but rather things like that you need.

I actually prefer the simple approach because I’m not tech savvy. You don't need to read a manual to change the radio station or adjust the AC.

While it is okay that there aren't features right now, in a few years it will make the car feel very dated. At least, Maruti should offer some modern features as options.
