The small tank is the real limiting factor for long rides, but it’s more comfortable than you’d think.
Is the KTM Duke 890 R good for long-distance touring?

It's 70% there for touring, I'd say. For most people, good enough, but hardcore tourers want something else.
Does the KTM Duke 890 R live up to its ‘scalpel’ nickname on the track?

Wind protection is a real issue at high speeds. It’s more of a canyon carver than a true track weapon.

On my 890 R, I've embarrassed plenty of sportbike riders. The rider is all that matters, not the fairing.

It's a jack of all trades, but master of none. Good on track, but not great. But it’s more fun than most bikes you’ll find out there.

That 'scalpel' nickname is right on. It's so precise, so easy to flick around; you feel like a better rider than you are.

For street and occasional track use, I'd say it lives up to the hype. Track rats who are dedicated will want something more focused.

The engine is a bit flat compared to a true supersport on track, but everything else—suspension and brakes—is top-notch.
Is the KTM Duke 890 R an upgrade worth the upgrade from a 390 Duke?

I did the jump, and if you’re planning on doing track days, I would say it’s worth it. It may be excessive for pure street riding.
Why is the KTM Duke 390 so unreliable?
10 January 2025 10:10
I've had my Duke 390 for two years now, and it’s been rock solid. I think a lot of the reliability issues are blown out of proportion or from earlier models.
