I wouldn't recommend it as a first bike. Beginners may find the throttle a little twitchy and the upright seating position a little unusual. Perhaps begin with something a little more forgiving?

The bike is a great bike, but maintenance costs are a pain. If you don’t mind spending a little more on upkeep, then go for it. You might want to look at Japanese alternatives otherwise.

For city rides, I absolutely love my Duke 200. The only downside is that it gets pretty hot in slow moving traffic. That is something to consider if you live in a hot climate.

The Duke 200 was perfect for a new rider like me. It’s not so powerful that it’s intimidating, but it’s powerful enough that it’s fun. And it has accelerated my skill development.

That depends on your city, I’d say. It's great if you've got decent roads and not too much traffic. If, however, you're stuck with pothole filled streets and constant gridlock, you may want something with softer suspension.

Daily commuting is a big plus for the fuel efficiency. Mine is great on mileage which makes it super economical for everyday use.

The riding position is one thing to be considered. It’s fun and quite sporty, but maybe not the most comfortable if you’re going to be commuting a long way. First test ride it to see if it is fit for you.

I began on a Duke 200 and I really liked it, but on longer rides the vibrations at high speed can be annoying. But it is perfect for short trips!

It's a great bike if you have a mechanical inclination. The Duke 200 is a good one for learning a lot about maintenance. If not, you’ll likely need to go to the mechanic more often than with some other bikes.

The KTM Duke 200 is not unusually heavy for a motorcycle. It weighs around 168 kg, making it slightly heavier than the average motorcycle. However, its weight is still manageable and shouldn't be a problem for most riders.

The KTM Duke 200 has a tank capacity of 13.5 liters and can run up to 300 km on a single tank of fuel. The bike is also known to deliver a good mileage of 40 kmpl.

You can go for the present KTM 200 Duke as KTM may not launch the 2017 model in the country anytime soon. The revision will include the addition of ABS to the bike while everything else is expected to be kept the same. The motorcycle is a very good option for everyday riding as it comes with an upright stance as well as a peppy 199.5 cc engine with an urge of acceleration. It currently sells for INR 1,43,000.

Benelli TNT 25 is the best option out of all the above considered bikes. It comes with a refined 249cc engine producing 28.16 BHP and 21.61 Nm of torque. It gets a comfortable seat height of 780 mm and gets a huge 17 liter fuel tank. It is not as aggressive as 200 Duke and performs much better than the Honda CBR250R. The design is quiet appealing and it comes with a price tag of INR 1,68,000.

KTM 200 Duke would soon be available with ABS as the CEO of KTM has announced that all the bikes above 125cc would be loaded with safety features like ABS. The motorcycle currently retails for INR 1,43,000 whereas the newcomer would get a significant increase in its price tag. It produces 24.65 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 19.2 NM @ 8,000 rpm. The engine is a 199.5cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected motor. The KTM 200 Duke is suitable for street riding purposes whereas RC series is more oriented towards track riding.

Depends on your face ;_;

It's definitely the RC series from KTM which gets more attention from everyone. The Duke 200 gets black alloy wheels and black underpinnings, making it look a bit decent whereas the RC200 gets Orange wheels and underpinnings, making it more attractive to the eye. Also, the fully faired bikes are considered as superbikes in India whereas even a 1000 cc bike without fairing gets ignored many a times. You should definitely go for RC200 as it would serve your purpose the best way whereas others in the segment look much common and lesser attractive.

Always KTM RC bro, my friend has a KTM RC, when you ride on streets, you get attention from crowd :-)

The seat height of KTM RC200 is 834 mm and the 200 Duke gets a seat height of 810 mm. Both the bikes are quiet high and riding the RC200 would specially be a problem for your convenience. You can plan for some other ride with a better seat height, preferring a cruiser styled motorcycle. The newly expected Bajaj Avenger Street 200 could be a good option as it is expected to be with the same 199.5 cc engine from the Bajaj-KTM family. It would also be priced quiet low when compared to these two bikes and would be the most comfortable ride you could get in the Indian automobile segment. Rumors of 3 different Avengers to be launched this month will definitely benefit you for choosing the preferred engine and styling.

The KTM 200 Duke would be perfect option for your daily traveling partner. It would suit you the best as it comes with a street fighter design, carrying the minimum amount of bosy decals and panels. The 199.5 cc motor is an excellent unit with a power output of 24.6 BHP and 19.2 NM of torque. It gets a 6-speed gearbox and returns a mileage of around 35 kmpl. It gets a a top speed of 135 kmph and comes with disc brakes for both the wheels. The front gets a USD suspension setup whereas the rear comes with monoshock suspension. It gets a price tag of INR 1,38,000.

The Duke 200 ABS was expected from a long time but the new 2015 Duke 200 also has no ABS equipped to it. It may be available in the next year model but it would be a long waiting time in between. You may go for the non ABS version or other rivals of the duke 200.
