Does the Alcazar make sense in terms of the Creta's premium features compared to the Alcazar's price?
02 January 2025 07:10
I think Hyundai set the price point wrong. To make this a no brainer upgrade, the Alcazar should be closer to the Creta. With its current price point it's up against some serious players who provide more bang for the buck.
Does the Alcazar build quality and long term reliability stack up to its price tag?
02 January 2025 07:10
I’ve had my Alcazar for more than a year now and the build quality seems sturdy. The interior materials have stood up well and so far no rattles or squeaks. Overall quality-wise it definitely feels a step above the Creta.
Does the Alcazar build quality and long term reliability stack up to its price tag?

Seriously, it's still a Hyundai. It’s decent quality for the money, but not as good as European premium brands that cost the same. You are paying for features and space, not Audi build quality.
Does the Alcazar build quality and long term reliability stack up to its price tag?

Hyundai has really stepped up their game with the Alcazar, I think. It has tight panel gaps, solid thunking doors that close, and premium interior materials. It's not luxury car level, but for the price point it's definitely good.
Does the Alcazar build quality and long term reliability stack up to its price tag?

As a long time Hyundai owner, I can say their reliability has gotten much better in recent years. I wouldn't be too worried about long term reliability as the Alcazar uses mechanicals proven on other Hyundai models. It’s pretty simple, just follow the service schedule and you should be fine.
Does the Alcazar build quality and long term reliability stack up to its price tag?

It’s ok for the build quality, but I am worried about the long term reliability of all the electronic gizmos. Now, things like the digital instrument cluster and the rotating infotainment screen are cool, but what are they going to be in a few years when they start causing problems? It could be a nightmare of repair costs.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
Diesel is dying anyway. Hyundai smart is petrol and maybe a hybrid or EV version later.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
Big mistake. Even for smaller models, the SUV segment is still diesel territory. They are missing a big market.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
It's a tough call. It would add to the cost, and might push the Ai3 out of its target price range. It's probably why Hyundai did the math.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
I think it's the right move. In the long run, maintenance is cheaper than it was and petrol engines have become very efficient.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
If they’re skipping diesel, they should at least offer a CNG option. The fuel efficiency crowd would like that.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
In semi urban and rural areas that still prefer diesel for its lower running cost, this could backfire.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
It's not just about the fuel. Torque is better on diesel engines and that’s good for bad roads. The power feels underpowered without it.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
Hyundai is doing something right. It means if they're not offering diesel, their market research shows it not worth it.
Is Hyundai making a mistake not offering a diesel option for the Ai3?
02 January 2025 07:05
Perhaps they are leaving some room for a diesel variant down the road? We start with petrol, see how it goes and if there is demand then we introduce diesel.
Will the higher potential price tag of the Ai3 eat into Hyundai's own sales of the Grand i10 Nios?
02 January 2025 07:05
But it’s a risky move and I think Hyundai knows what they are doing. The Nios will probably attract a different type of buyer than the Ai3.
Will the higher potential price tag of the Ai3 eat into Hyundai's own sales of the Grand i10 Nios?
02 January 2025 07:05
Nios sales are definitely going to be hurt by this. If all you can do is get a hatch for a little more, why get a hatch?
Will the higher potential price tag of the Ai3 eat into Hyundai's own sales of the Grand i10 Nios?
02 January 2025 07:05
It’s just Hyundai adapting to the market. If they're not going to offer an SUV in this space, someone else will. It’s better to cannibalize your own sales than lose them to a competitor.
Will the higher potential price tag of the Ai3 eat into Hyundai's own sales of the Grand i10 Nios?
02 January 2025 07:05
I believe that in terms of features and marketing they'll differentiate the two enough. The Ai3 might go premium, while the Nios could become budget focused.
Will the higher potential price tag of the Ai3 eat into Hyundai's own sales of the Grand i10 Nios?
02 January 2025 07:05
And it’s not only about the product itself, but also about the production capacity. It could be that Hyundai is trying to phase out Nios slowly and replace it with Ai3.
