The Kona Electric's infotainment system? How does this compare to newer EVs?
02 January 2025 12:05
At first as a tech geek I was disappointed. After a while of use, I prefer its simplicity honestly. It's snappy, it's reliable and does what I need, without fuss. Sometimes simpler is better.
Is the Kona Electric's relatively slow DC fast charging a road trip killer?
02 January 2025 12:05
It is definitely slower than I would like, but it works. When I travel, I just plan my trips carefully and use the charging stops as breaks to stretch and get food. It’s not ideal, but it’s not a deal breaker either.
Is the Kona Electric's relatively slow DC fast charging a road trip killer?
02 January 2025 12:05
My biggest complaint about the Kona is slow charging. Daily driving is fine, but road trips are a pain. I’ve had to sit at chargers for over an hour just to get enough range to make it to the next stop. Here, newer EVs have a big advantage.
Is the Kona Electric's relatively slow DC fast charging a road trip killer?
02 January 2025 12:05
I honestly think we obsess with charging speeds too much. That's how efficient the Kona is that you don't need to charge as often as some other EV. Realistically, how many people are really doing those super long road trips?
Is the Kona Electric's relatively slow DC fast charging a road trip killer?
02 January 2025 12:05
It's a trade-off. The Kona is annoying with slower charging on trips but I think the price and range make up for it. I’d rather have a longer range and charge less often than a shorter range and charge more often.
Is the Kona Electric's relatively slow DC fast charging a road trip killer?
02 January 2025 12:05
That said, as someone who road trips a lot, it’s definitely a limitation. It's not as bad as some people make it sound. The Kona can still do 75 kW pretty consistently, better than some EVs that quickly throttle down. It takes good planning.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
The Creta EV, I think, will be a game changer. That name is pretty popular and has a loyal following — and that could really help to make EVs a more normal thing for a lot of people.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
But it'll definitely shake things up, and I'm not sure that it's the tipping point for mass adoption. If it's too expensive, it'll be a niche product – the price will be crucial.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
It could be the push other manufacturers need to up their EV game. A good thing for consumers is competition, and the Creta EV might just be the catalyst for a new wave of electric SUVs.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
I'm afraid it will actually slow down innovation. If Hyundai can make a fairly conventional EV work, others may stick to the safe side instead of taking chances.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
Charging infrastructure is what will be hit the hardest. We could see a boom in charging stations if the Creta EV does sell well, as there will be a lot of new EVs on the road to support.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
That's going to cannibalize Kona Electric sales for sure. And if that means more people overall are buying EVs, that might not be such a bad thing.
Will the Creta EV affect the Indian electric vehicle market overall?
02 January 2025 11:43
The Creta EV could be the 'Model 3 moment' for India, the car that'll make EVs mainstream. However, a lot will ride on how well Hyundai pulls off the launch and backs up early adopters.
Is the Hyundai Creta EV a whole new electric SUV experience, or just another electric SUV?
02 January 2025 11:43
Hyundai's definitely a smart move. Given the Creta name has a huge following, slapping an electric powertrain on it is a sure fire way to get noticed. And that 473 km range is no joke, it’s practical for city driving and road trips.
Is the Hyundai Creta EV a whole new electric SUV experience, or just another electric SUV?
02 January 2025 11:43
I don't think it's a game changer. Yeah, it’s got decent specs, but it seems like Hyundai is just electrifying an existing model. Where's the innovation? What I was expecting was something that was built from the ground up as an EV.
Is the Hyundai Creta EV a whole new electric SUV experience, or just another electric SUV?
02 January 2025 11:43
The truth is, the success of the Creta EV will depend on the pricing. If Hyundai can price it right, then it could be huge. However, if it's priced like the Kona Electric, it may not succeed.
Is the Hyundai Creta EV a whole new electric SUV experience, or just another electric SUV?
02 January 2025 11:43
I think this is a good middle ground. Not everyone wants a futuristic looking EV – some people just want a familiar car that is electric. That’s exactly what those buyers would need.
Is the Hyundai Creta EV a whole new electric SUV experience, or just another electric SUV?
02 January 2025 11:43
Game-changer? Nah. But it doesn't need to be. Hyundai's just filling in the blanks, and the Creta EV should sell well enough. It's certainly not revolutionary, but it's the right step in the right direction for mainstream EV adoption.
Do the Creta EV’s range anxiety reducing features actually make a difference?
02 January 2025 11:43
And I think these features will help definitely. It has a pretty solid 473 km range, and the fact that you can count on finding charging stations is a big plus. It’s not perfect, but it is a step in the correct direction.
Do the Creta EV’s range anxiety reducing features actually make a difference?
02 January 2025 11:43
The problem is more psychological than anything else. These features will help a bit, but until there’s a charger on every corner like a petrol pump, people will still worry.
