Is the Bajaj Discover 150S dead?
29 January 2025 07:57
Who cares if it's dead? The Discover was always a confused bike: it was never as comfy as a true commuter, it was never as sporty as a Pulsar. Good riddance, I say.
Is the Bajaj Discover 150S dead?

I'm sure it will be coming back, but with a major overhaul. They wouldn't just abandon the 150cc segment because the 150cc segment is hot right now. Soon expect a new Discover with fancy LED lights and a TFT screen.
Is the Bajaj Discover 150S dead?
29 January 2025 07:57
That's probably gone now, which is not a bad thing. It was the Discover which paved the way for better 150cc options. The spirit of that bike lives on in bikes such as the Pulsar N150.
Is the Bajaj Discover 150S dead?
29 January 2025 07:57
I hope it's not dead. My dad is still a staunch supporter of his 2014 Discover 150S. It's the perfect balance for Indian roads, says. Perhaps Bajaj should pay more heed to loyal customers.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
It comes pretty close in my experience. On average I get 60 kmpl, which is not far off from many 125cc bikes, but when I need the punch of a 150cc I get it.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
That tagline is just marketing fluff. The mileage is nowhere near what you'd get from a well tuned 125cc commuter, and it doesn't have the power of a true 150cc bike like the Pulsar.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
I think Bajaj had a good balance. It’s clearly a lot more powerful than the 125cc bikes I’ve ridden, and while the mileage isn’t exactly 125cc territory, it’s pretty good for its class.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
The bike is a good compromise, but there is a little bit of tagline overpromising. If you want a bit more oomph than a 125cc but don’t want to sacrifice too much on fuel efficiency, it’s perfect.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
I think as an owner it lives up to about 80% of that claim. It’s got decent power for a 150cc, and while it’s not quite 125cc level, the mileage is better than most 150s.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
Such taglines are the problem because they set expectations that are unrealistic. The Discover 150F is a good bike, but it’s no magic bike. It’s a middle ground, and if that’s what you’re after, it’s fine.
So did the Discover 150F live up to its ‘Power of a 150, mileage of a 125’ tagline?
29 January 2025 07:54
I've also found that with careful riding, you can actually get pretty close to that tagline's promise. All you need is the throttle and the bike.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
I definitely think it was ahead of its time. Back then, the market wasn’t ready for a semi faired 150cc commuter, and now we see tons of premium commuters with similar concepts.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
Nope, it wasn't ahead of it's time, it just didn't know what it wanted to be. The Discover 150F was Jack of all trades, master of none.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
In a way, yes. It was trying to bridge the gap between commuters and sport bikes, which is now a popular segment. Bajaj was onto something, but the execution wasn’t perfect.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
I think it was more of a market test than being ahead of its time. Probably, the results of that informed their future strategies.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
The bike itself wasn't revolutionary enough to be called 'ahead of its time,' but the concept was ahead of its time. This is a small step to what we see in the market today.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
While market positioning was ahead of its time, technology and performance were not. It might have made a stronger imprint had it been more advanced.
Was the Discover 150F ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:54
The Discover 150F was the wrong idea at the right time. Now the market has changed and if Bajaj reintroduced a similar concept today, I bet it would be more successful.
Did Bajaj make a mistake in discontinuing the Discover 150F?
29 January 2025 07:54
I honestly believe Bajaj made the right call. Discover 150F was stuck in a weird place - it was too expensive for budget buyers, but not sporty enough for enthusiasts. It just didn't have a clear target, it was just 'a thing'.
Did Bajaj make a mistake in discontinuing the Discover 150F?
29 January 2025 07:54
This was a huge mistake, no way was discontinuing it! The Discover 150F was unique in its semi faired design for the commuter segment. If Bajaj gave up, it should have marketed it better.
