In real world riding, how does the Pulsar N160’s engine compare to the NS160?

Fuel efficiency, you guys forget. My experience is that the N160 always runs better on mileage, especially in city riding. That's a big deal for a lot of this segment's buyers.
Is the Pulsar N160 a good starter bike for beginners?

Absolutely! The N160 is perfect for beginners. Not too powerful to be intimidating, but there is enough grunt to keep you interested as you get better. The dual channel ABS option is also great for building confidence, plus.

I disagree. Even 160cc can be too much for a true beginner. One would better start with something like a 125cc bike. It’s more suited for someone with a bit of riding experience.

It depends on the beginner. The N160 is more than fine if you are a cautious learner. If you’re the type to get excited easily, it might be too tempting to push beyond your skills.

If I were an MSF instructor, I’d say the N160 is a good suggestion but not the best. It’s upright seating position and manageable power are good, but I wish it were a bit lighter for easier low speed maneuvers.

You all fail to remember the maintenance aspect. There are a lot of things I love about the N160, but one of the best is that it's a pretty reliable and easy to maintain bike (which is important for a beginner who might not know much about bike upkeep).

I began on an N160 and I think it was great. It’s predictable and forgiving of mistakes. All you have to do is make sure you start with the single channel ABS version (cheaper and less intimidating).

Most beginners don’t just want something that works, they want something that looks cool as well. The N160 that isn't too extreme. Starting out is a little bit of a confidence booster.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
I honestly believe the hype is warranted. The Pulsar N160 isn't just another Pulsar, it's a complete overhaul. The older Pulsars had a rougher engine but this new one is buttery smooth and the power delivery is just right for city riding. Plus, the dual channel ABS on the higher variant is a game changer for safety in this segment.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
Nah, it's overhyped. Yes, it’s an upgrade over the old Pulsars, but is it so much better than the Apache RTR 160 4V or the Honda X-Blade? I don't think so. Bajaj knows only how to market.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?
30 January 2025 09:19
I have owned the old Pulsar 150 and now the N160, being someone who has owned both, it is a massive upgrade. The refinement level is night and day. All I'll say is that I agree, it's not revolutionary, but it's a real solid evolution of the Pulsar line.

The tech deserves the hype, but not the looks. I can't get over how generic the design is, the engine and features are great. Bajaj seems to have played it too safe.
Is the Pulsar N160 all that it's cracked up to be?

I believe people are missing the point. The N160 doesn't want to be revolutionary; it just wants to give you a well rounded package for a good price. And in that, it succeeds. It's hyped because it’s just right for many riders.
How do things hold up over time on the Pulsar N150?

I’ve put about 15,000 km on my N150 and it’s holding up really well. It still looks like they just painted it, no rattles are present, and all electronics work flawlessly. It feels more premium than previous Pulsars I’ve owned.

I like it, overall, but there are a few niggles. The switchgear is a bit cheap and I've seen some surface rust on a couple of bolts. Nothing major, just not quite at Japanesque bike fit and finish level.

I worked on a bunch of N150s as a mechanic, and the build quality is a step up from the old Pulsars. I'm seeing less problems with electrical systems and the engine components seem more robust. It's not perfect, but it's better.

I've had mine for about a year now and it's generally good but the headlight always vibrates loose. It's a small thing, and it's annoying, but it also makes me think of overall attention to detail.

Being from a Honda I was skeptical, but the N150 has exceeded my expectations. After 10,000 km everything is still tight and well put together. My only issue was some fading on the matte finish parts, but that’s nothing more than cosmetic.

I think it's hit or miss. We bought N150s at the same time and my friend and I. He’s had problems with instrument cluster and some weird electrical gremlins, but mine has been flawless. I think there is some manufacturing quality inconsistency.

The build quality on this thing is great for the price point. It’s not premium, but it feels solid and well engineered. I've ridden it off road and it has handled the abuse without a single part coming loose or breaking. It's tougher than it looks.
