In some ways, yes. Aston simply can’t match Porsche or Ferrari’s racing pedigree. And that is visible in the final product.

It's not about competing directly. What the DB12 is, is something different; it’s a GT car with supercar performance. It's in its own category.

On paper, maybe. Aston, however, still has reliability issues that Porsche and Ferrari fixed years ago. They need to catch up.

The DB12 can certainly hold its own when it comes to performance. Aston's real strength is style and exclusivity. It's a different appeal.

I think it's quite close but not quite yet. However, Porsche and Ferrari are moving targets, and the DB12 is a huge step forward. Aston needs to keep pushing.

Who cares about competing? The DB12 is fast enough and gorgeous. If you want the ultimate track weapon then by a GT3. If you want to feel unique, you don’t buy the Aston.

The DB12 is up there now in terms of daily usability and tech. Now it's a proper modern supercar, not just a pretty face.

Come on, Aston is still playing catch up. Ferrari and Porsche are always one step ahead in terms of innovation, but the DB12 is great.

Nothing to do with being better it’s just being different. The DB12 is a unique mix of performance and luxury that neither Porsche or Ferrari really offer.

Absolutely worth it! It is a massive leap from the DB11. Even the new infotainment system is worth the upgrade. And that V8 is perfectly tuned.

Overpriced? Maybe. What other car looks this good, drives this well? But here you have that. The specs are just one aspect, the experience is what matters.

I'd say it's overhyped. At that price point, you could get a Porsche 911 Turbo S with better performance and reliability, sure it’s gorgeous.

If you take into consideration all the reliability issues some early owners are reporting, it’s hard to justify the price. I would wait for the kinks to be worked out, but that is a beautiful car.

Don’t let the DB12’s pretty face fool you. It's a true driver's car with the improvements to the chassis and updating to the suspension. After a century of trying, Aston has finally built an Aston that can compete with the best from Ferrari and Porsche.

Who buys an Aston for value? No one. You purchase it for the zone, the appears to be like, the satisfaction. In spades the DB12 delivers on those fronts.

It’s a little bit a bit of both. There’s no doubt Aston have made a car that will impress, but they really need to up their game in terms of quality control as well as after sales support to justify the price tag.

It's definitely overhyped. The V8 is nice, but it’s a Mercedes engine. I don’t want parts bin and I don’t fancy Aston Martin money, I want something truly bespoke.

Exactly what Aston needed, the DB12 is a car that can rival the best in terms of technology and performance, but with that unmistakable Aston Martin charm. If ever someone asked me, totally worth every penny.

Not at all! The DB12’s V8 is a beast. The old V12 is not only more powerful, but more efficient. Aston is smart to change with the times.

Absolutely it does. The V12 sound was part of Aston's DNA. This V8 might be good, but it will never bring the same emotional impact.
