Is the Amo Mobility Brisk the hype or bust for urban commuters?

Absolutely! A month in, I’ve been using the Brisk as my daily commute and it’s been a game changer. It’s super lightweight, easy to drive around in traffic, and the battery lasts longer than I expected. And it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than taking an Uber every day.

Eh, I'm not sold on it. Yes, it's good for short trips, but anything over 5km and you start to feel its limitations. Even on slight inclines the motor struggles, and over bumpy uneven roads the ride can get pretty bumpy. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, I think there are better options out there.

It is well worth the price. It’s not perfect, but it works. I really love how compact it is – I can fit it on the metro during rush hour without being a bother. While it may not be a speed demon or handle like a high end scooter, don't expect it to.

So I think people are a little overhyping it. It's affordable and eco friendly, but the build quality isn't great and the advertised range of the battery life just isn't true. It’s fine for the occasional use, but I wouldn’t use it as my main form of getting around.

The Brisk hits a sweet spot for urban commuters, I would say, as someone who's tried a bunch of e scooters. It's not the best at any one thing, but it's a fine all rounder. Realistic expectations are the key: it’s great for zipping around the city, but it’s not going to replace your car for longer trips.

I actually really like it, more than I thought I would. I do not know how long I will have this unit, but I was skeptical about the price and so far, it has been reliable. It’s small enough to store in my small apartment, and packs enough juice to get me to work and back. It’s not a fancy ride, but it does what it says.

If you're expecting a Tesla of e scooters, then you'll be disappointed. For what it is, an entry level, affordable electric scooter, it’s pretty damn good. I've suggested it to a few friends that were on the fence about e-mobility, and they've liked it.

I don’t think it’s black and white, it depends on your needs. I live in a hilly area, and the Brisk just doesn’t do it for me. On inclines the motor struggles and I find myself often having to push it. It might be perfect if you live in a flatter city. Before buying any e scooter, always think about your terrain.

It's real hype, but with caveats. It’s a good starter e-scooter and if you’re new to e-mobility and not willing to spend much, it’s perfect for you. But if you’re a seasoned rider or have a longer commute, you’ll likely find yourself wanting more pretty fast.

And if you can manage your expectations, I’d say it’s worth it. It won’t revolutionize your life, but for short urban commutes, it’s a solid, budget friendly option. It will come at some trade offs in terms of power and ride comfort compared to more expensive models, though.

I have ridden the Brisk in light rain and it is... okay. You have to be extra careful on turns because the tires don’t have the best grip. For a light drizzle, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you are careful it's manageable.

I'm not impressed with its wet weather performance, honestly. I'm nervous because the battery compartment isn't properly water resistant sealed. I've slipped the wheels on wet leaves a few times and had some frightening moments. In my book, it definitely is a fair weather scooter.

Not terrible, but not great. A bit concerning in traffic is the fact that the brakes don’t seem to be as responsive when wet. However, I have never had any major problems. All you have to do is ride slower and more carefully and you should be okay.

Some give it too little credit for how well it handles wet conditions, I think. Its low centre of gravity lends stability to it. It’s not really designed for monsoon season, but for the average urban drizzle, it will do the job. You won't be able to zoom around like you would on dry pavement, though.

I commute year round and would say the Brisk is good for wet conditions but not great. The main thing I've found is the water splashing up from the wheels to the deck, so it's slippery. It’s made a big difference for me with a simple DIY solution using some grip tape.

No budget e scooter is going to be amazing in the rain. The Brisk is no exception. This is usable, but you have to drastically change your riding style. Key is slowing down, gentle braking and avoiding puddles. Expectation management is all it is.

For its price point, I actually think it does pretty well in wet conditions. They have good tread on the tires, and I never felt like I was going to go over the handlebars. Anyway, I did add a bit of extra waterproofing to the electrical components just for peace of mind.

It's a mixed bag. One hand, the scooter itself seems to not mind moisture too much. On the other hand, without fenders, you'll be soaked up your back from the spray by the time you reach your destination. If you’re going to be riding in the wet on a regular basis, factor in some aftermarket fenders.

I've run the Brisk through a rainy season, and although it's not perfect, it's usable. The solution is simple: maintain it, by wiping it down after wet rides, lubrication of moving parts, and checks of the electrical connections. As long as you take care, it will handle moderate wet conditions just fine.

I would say the Brisk fares about as well as any other scooter in its price range when wet. It’s not going to win any awards for water resistance, but it’s not a complete disaster. Ride cautiously and avoid deep puddles and you will be fine.
