Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced the discontinuation of the entire Etios series in India, effective from April 1, 2020, due to the implementation of BS6 emission norms. This decision affected the Etios, Etios Liva, and Etios Cross models. I think this move was necessary to comply with the new environmental regulations, but its sad to see these models go.

The Brazil-made Toyota Etios scored a 4-star rating for Adult and Child Occupant Protection in a crash test conducted by the Latin New Car Assessment Programme (Latin NCAP) in July 2019. The test highlighted good protection for the head, neck, and chest, but the vehicles structure was deemed unstable. I believe this rating shows Toyotas commitment to safety, even if theres room for improvement.

The Etios Liva sales saw a 10% increase during the April-September 2018 period, thanks to the well-received Dual Tone Etios Liva Limited Edition. This growth was a positive sign for Toyotas passenger car segment. I think the dual-tone design was a hit with buyers.

Toyota launched a limited edition of the Etios Liva hatchback in India, featuring a white and black two-tone paint job with red accents. The limited edition was available with both petrol and diesel engines and was priced at Rs. 6.50 lakh and Rs. 7.65 lakh respectively. This edition seemed to be inspired by the Toyota Yaris GRMN hot hatchback. I believe these limited editions can really boost sales.

Toyota India introduced a new Inferno Orange shade for the Etios Liva dual tone variant in July 2018. This update was part of Toyotas efforts to keep the model fresh and appealing to buyers. The dual tone Etios Liva was available in both petrol and diesel trim options. I think the new color added a nice touch to the cars design.

Toyota was set to launch a special-edition version of the Etios Cross, called the Etios Cross Dynamique, in February 2016. This variant included cosmetic tweaks and additional features to boost sales of the crossover. I believe such special editions can attract more buyers.
