Tata Sumo Gold (2016) Updates

Latest Updates
Thursday, 14 November 2019 11:36 AM Tata Motors announced the discontinuation of the Tata Sumo Gold in 2019, marking the end of an era for this iconic SUV that had been in production since 1994. The Sumo Gold was known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities. I think this move was inevitable given the rising competition from more modern SUVs.
Sunday, 15 April 2018 10:05 AM Tata Motors offered benefits of up to Rs. 33,000 on the 2018 models of the Tata Sumo Gold under its April offers. This was an attempt to clear out remaining stock and attract more buyers. I think such offers were necessary given the declining demand for the Sumo Gold.
Sunday, 20 March 2016 04:50 PM The Sumo Gold featured power steering, power windows, and rear AC vents, which were seen as convenient features for its time. However, it lacked modern safety features like central locking and advanced braking systems. I believe these omissions made it less appealing to safety-conscious buyers.
Thursday, 25 February 2016 08:59 AM The Tata Sumo Gold had a seating capacity of up to nine occupants, making it a popular choice for large families and commercial use. However, the third row was best suited for children due to limited space. I think this made it a practical option for specific needs.
Friday, 15 January 2016 05:46 AM The vehicle was powered by a 2956cc CR4 diesel engine that produced 84 HP at 3000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1600 rpm. It had a certified mileage of 15.3 kmpl. I believe this engine provided sufficient power for its intended use.
Sunday, 20 December 2015 05:07 PM The Tata Sumo Gold was known for its big fuel tank capacity of 65 litres, which was beneficial for long trips. However, its fuel economy in city conditions was approximately 10 kmpl, which was not very efficient. I think this was a compromise for its size and power.
Tuesday, 15 October 2013 07:28 AM In October 2013, Tata Motors introduced a facelift for the Sumo Gold, which included updates such as a new radio CD and MP3 player, dual zone air conditioning, and new body colors and stickers. These changes aimed to keep the vehicle relevant in the market. I believe these updates helped extend the Sumo Golds lifespan but werent enough to make it a top choice.
Wednesday, 05 June 2013 09:10 PM The Tata Sumo Gold was available in three variants – CX, EX, and GX – priced between Rs. 7.28 lakh and Rs. 8.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Each variant offered different levels of features, but all shared the same 3.0-litre CR4 diesel engine. I think the pricing was competitive, but the features were somewhat outdated.
Monday, 20 February 2012 07:21 PM In February 2012, Tata launched the Sumo Gold, a facelift of the old Sumo Victa, which introduced the 3.0 CR4 four-cylinder diesel engine with common rail and direct injection. This engine produced 85 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The interior also saw improvements with new fabrics and air conditioning controls. I believe this engine upgrade was a significant improvement for the Sumo Gold.
Tuesday, 10 January 2012 11:20 PM The Tata Sumo Gold was praised for its rugged chassis and high ground clearance of 190 mm, making it suitable for off-road use. However, it was criticized for its bouncy ride at high speeds and cramped third row seating. I think these trade-offs were typical for an older SUV design.
