The Tata Altroz iTurbo XT Dark has been discontinued as part of the 2024 updates, with Tata Motors deciding to axe all 110 PS i-Turbo variants except for the Altroz Racer. This move has left buyers who were looking for a turbocharged Altroz with limited options. I think this decision might impact the sales of the Altroz, especially among those who preferred the turbocharged engine.

The Tata Altroz Dark Edition, which includes the XT Dark variant, now features an all-black theme both inside and out. This edition also includes new equipment such as black perforated leatherette seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped gear knob. Tata Motors has introduced new variants of the Altroz, including the Dark Edition, but the iTurbo XT Dark is no longer part of the lineup. Instead, the Dark Edition is now available in XT and XZ+ trims, with prices starting at Rs 7.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This change reflects the companys strategy to focus on other powertrain options.

The 2024 Tata Altroz updates include several new features, but the iTurbo XT Dark variant is not among them. The new features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a 360-degree camera, and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, none of which are available in the discontinued iTurbo XT Dark. I believe these updates will make the remaining variants more appealing to buyers.

However, with the discontinuation of this variant, buyers are now looking at other options within the Altroz lineup. The Dark Editions all-black theme remains a highlight, but its no longer available with the iTurbo engine.

Before its discontinuation, the Tata Altroz iTurbo XT Dark was priced competitively, starting around Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing made it an attractive option in the premium hatchback segment. I think the absence of this variant will be felt by those who were drawn to its performance and style.

In 2023, the Tata Altroz iTurbo XT Dark was still part of the lineup, offering a unique blend of performance and style. However, with the introduction of new variants and features in 2024, this specific model has been phased out. I think this change reflects the companys evolving market strategy.

The Tata Altroz iTurbo XT Dark was one of the variants that benefited from the additional safety features introduced in the Dark Edition, such as Brake Sway Control and TPMS. Although this variant is no longer available, these safety features continue to be part of the Altroz lineup.

Prior to its discontinuation, the Tata Altroz iTurbo XT Dark was a strong contender in the premium hatchback segment, competing with models like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20. Its removal from the market may shift buyer preferences towards other available variants.
