The 2024 Mitsubishi Montero Sport has been quietly launched in the Philippines, featuring a new grille with a sawtooth pattern, new headlights, and redesigned bumpers. The top-of-the-line Black Series models come with dual zone climate control, an 8-way power seat, and Mitsubishi’s ADAS suite. The vehicle is powered by a 2.4-liter 4N15 diesel engine with 181 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. I think the lack of significant engine upgrades might be a letdown for some enthusiasts.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has spotted transporting the new and facelifted Montero Sport SUVs, indicating an imminent local launch. The new models feature a new grille, alloy wheel design, and tweaks to the headlights and tail lights. Higher-spec models will get a new digital instrument cluster, while all grades are likely to receive a new three-spoke steering wheel design. I believe the design changes will appeal to fans of the Montero Sport.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is set to debut in the Philippines, marking the current-generation 7-seater SUV’s last update before a new design in 2025. The refresh includes a new Dynamic Shield grille, new headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels with a turbine-like design. The interior updates include a new black headliner and the option for two-tone leather seats. I think the interior upgrades will enhance the overall driving experience.

Mitsubishi has confirmed that the Philippine-spec Montero Sport will retain the same appearance as the one launched in Thailand, including the new grille and alloy wheel design. The engine remains a Euro 4 compliant 2.4-liter 4N15 with 181 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The GLX 2WD MT variant comes with a 6-speed manual, while other models have an 8-speed automatic. I believe the engine could have been more efficient with the newer 4N16 single-turbo diesel.

The upcoming all-new Montero Sport, expected in 2025, is hinted to be more like its discontinued big brother, the Pajero. Hiroshi Masuoka, chief of vehicle engineering development at Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, mentioned that the Pajero Sport has the potential to grow in performance, comfort, and powertrain. This suggests significant improvements in the next generation. I think this is exciting news for fans of the Montero Sport.

In January 2016, Mitsubishi Philippines launched the third-generation Montero Sport, which replaced its predecessor with improved refinement, style, and power. The SUV features Mitsubishis Dynamic Shield grille and comes with a 2.4L four-cylinder DOHC 16V MIVEC Variable Geometry Turbocharged clean diesel engine. I believe this generation marked a significant leap for the Montero Sport in terms of performance and design.
