Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the new A-Star with an 800cc diesel engine by the end of 2014, which is expected to be the most fuel-efficient car in India, returning up to 30kmpl. This engine will be part of Suzukis self-developed 2-cylinder diesel lineup. The car, codenamed YL7, will replace both the A-Star and Zen-Estilo. I think this move could significantly boost Marutis market share in the diesel segment.
